At present the department provides daily outpatient services to treat psychiatric disorders, psychological problems, behaviour disorders, psychological assessment, psychotherapy and behaviour therapy, sexual therapy and marital therapy. Collaboration with pediatric Department for Child guidance clinic and inpatient treatment. Electro convulsive therapy is provided.

The daily outpatient handles about 40 patients and the inpatient bed strength is 10. Psychiatrically trained nurses and psychiatric social workers are available to provide services to these patients. Teaching (both clinical and theory) is done for III MBBS students as well as III year B.Sc. Nursing students.

Educational posting is provided with a tie-up to VRC Rehabilitation centre at Vettom, Tirur.

The department has proved to be popular and is attracting patients from far and wide.
