       DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology is one of the busiest and efficiently run departments that caters to the need of a large pool of patients from near by and distant areas.

The department has a very hectic OPD where multifarious cases of both Gynaecologic & Obstetric nature are attended to. Well staffed, Antenatal & Gynaec wards ensure that paients get the best possible care. All the cases that require surgical attention are dealt with at the earliest, there being three operation days per week. Efficient care in the wards and during postoperative period makes sure that the chances of nosocomial and postoperative wound infection is kept to the minimum. Open communication between doctors, paramedical staff & the patients and their relatives is a hallmark of the department so that the latter are kept well informed and smooth and fruitful patient care results.

Department library is well stocked with the latest books and journals which are useful for both the faculty members and students alike. Department library has clinical specimens of both common and rare nature drawn from the variety of cases attended to at the department.

Infertility clinic, Cancer detection clinic, Family Planning clinic are the specialist clinics run at the department all of which care for patients from neighbouring and remote areas alike.

The Major, Minor Operation Theatres and Labour Room is well staffed and has most of the modern equipments and facilities that are being used on a regular scale especially benefiting the poor patient. In addition to performing a large number of usual O&G surgeries, the department takes pride in performing equally good number of challenging / conservative surgeries keeping in foot with the changing, modern techniques so that the patient is more benefied.

The second arena where the department places special stress is on the Undergraduate Medical education. Theory classes and case discussion sessions for the students are held regularly and they have access to the department library and museum. They are given opportunity to watch surgeries and good patient care & management is taught in order to groom a generation of efficient doctors.
